Preview Brest Ligue 1, Oct 31, 2021

Preview Brest returns to Ligue 1 action following last weekend’s 1-1 draw against the Ligue 1 champions, Lille. Yet to find a win this season, Brest entered the contest of ninety minutes winless in their last 14 Ligue 1 games. Lille were on the front foot, and eventually established the lead in the first opening twenty minutes. Jonathan David (19’) had two Brest shirts beaten with the right-footed reverse cut-back before picking his spot with the left. Two minutes after the half-hour mark, Brest were awarded a free-kick close to the box. Fortunately, Romain Faivre (32’) saw his freekick end up in the back of the net after a huge deflection. A few clear-cut chances went by at both ends, and both sides eventually settled for the draw. Brest will return with two draws in a row: LLLDD, having just 6 points after 0W, 6D, & 5L. Despite having a decent goal-scoring average of 1.09 goals per game – which should be enough to leave Brest with a few victories - the club remains rooted in 18th place. However, it remains clear that the problems are in defense. In eleven games, Brest has let in an unimpressive haul of 20 goals (1.82 goals conceded per game), and are left with a goal difference of -8. Despite picking up only two points in five games, Michel Der Zakarian could see the recent results as positives for the club. On Sunday, he could appear with the 4—2—3—1 formation, leaving Steve Mounie in attack against AS Monaco.

Preview Monaco Ligue 1, Oct 31, 2021

Preview The eight-time Ligue 1 title winners, Monaco, make their return after a 3-1 win over Montpellier last weekend. The club moved up several spots to 8th place on the Ligue 1 table, having picked up 17 points from 5W, 2D, & 4L. An impressive run of form leaves Monaco with only one defeat in five games: WWWLW, ahead of this Matchday 12 fixture against Brest. After a slow start to the season, Niko Kovac appears to have found the gears to push Monaco into place as a contender for a top-four finish. A win on Sunday against Brest could see Monaco inside the top-six, should favorable results emerge from other fixtures. Niko Kovac could emerge alongside Les Monégasques with the same 4—4—2 formation adopted for the game against Montpellier. Volland and the skipper, Wissam Ben Yedder, are expected in attack. Both players were on the scoresheet in the game against Montpellier in the 12th and 17th minute respectively.
