Preview Brighton & Hove Albion Premier League, Aug 28, 2021

Preview Brighton defeated Cardiff City in Tuesday's second-round EFL Cup fixture, 2-0. They remain unbeaten in the Premier League after Saturday's 2-0 victory over Watford on home soil. An excellent delivery, off the boots of Pascal Gross picked out Shane Duffy (10') in the box. Duffy's header struck the crossbar before crossing the goal line for an Albion lead. Minutes to the break, a generous gift in the shape of a loose pass handed the Seagulls an opportunity to double the lead. - And they did, through a fantastic effort from Neal Maupay (41'). The goalscorer, Maupay failed to emerge from the tunnel after the break due to a shoulder injury. Earlier in the first half, he landed awkwardly following a tussle with Watford's Oghenekaro Etebo (on loan from Stoke City). However, Potter believes the red-hot-form Maupay would be fit enough to face Everton. It's positive, he said on Maupay's availability before Tuesday's Carabao Cup fixture against Cardiff. Survival remains the sole objective for the Seagulls this season. However, following the unbelievable run of form, Brighton may aim for a more ambitious finish. A victory over Everton would see them cement their position at the top of the table before the international break. Albion are in 4th place with 6 points after two games: 2W, 0D & 0L. Except for Maupay who remains doubtful for this fixture, Graham Potter will have the luxury of selecting from a fully fit squad.

Preview Everton Premier League, Aug 28, 2021

Preview Everton defeated Huddersfield, 2-1 in Tuesday's EFL Cup fixture. Like Brighton, they also remain unbeaten in the Premier League after Saturday's 2-2 draw against Leeds United. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (30' P.) gave Everton the lead from the penalty spot after the VAR spotted a tug on his shirt. However, Mateusz Klich (41') found the leveller for Leeds. Demarai Gray (50') restored the lead for the Toffees before a goal from Raphinha (72') late into the second half levelled the scoreline. The draw leaves Everton in 7th place with 4 points after two games: 1W, 1D & 0L. A victory over Albion will see Rafael Benitez continue his fairytale return to the Premier League. A 4—2—3—1 formation as seen in the match against the Saints may appear on Saturday. After two goals in two appearances, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is poised to start at the forefront of the attack. Cenk Tosun is ruled out of this fixture while James Rodriguez remains doubtful.
