Preview Olympique Lyonnais Ligue 1, Aug 22, 2021

Preview An unbelievable 3-0 defeat to Angers, away from home on Match Day 2 leaves Lyon at the bottom end of the table with only one point after two games: 0W, 1D & 1L. Sofiane Boufal (20') put the home side in the lead midway into the first half after questionable goalkeeping from the Lyon goalkeeper, Anthony Lopes. Lyon found themselves with a two-goal deficit after poor communication between Lopes and Marcelo (53' O.G.) saw the back pass from the latter end up in goal. Azzeddine Ounahi (77') scored the third for Angers to ensure Lyon would be unable to find their way back into the game. It was a very poor outing from Peter Bosz's side as they failed to pose any real threat on the opposing end throughout the length of the game. On Sunday, the 57-year-old would look to get Lyon's campaign off to the proper start when they return on Match Day 3. Having picked up a 1-1 draw against Brest on Match Day 1, Lyon will aim for nothing less than 3 points. An attacking 4--3--3 formation is expected from Bosz. Having scored on the opening day, Slimani is expected to return to the forefront of the attack, - switching places with Dembele while Ekambi remains on the right side of the duo. Striker, Lenny Pintor and Jeff Reine-Adélaïde remain doubtful for this fixture.

Preview Clermont Ligue 1, Aug 22, 2021

Preview Newly-promoted Ligue 1 side, Clermont Foot 63 will return behind the 2-0 win over Troyes in what was the first-ever top-flight meeting between both sides. They picked up the numerical advantage minutes after the half-hour mark when Issa Kabore (R. 33') was given the marching orders. A brace from Mohamed Bayo (53' & 65') was good enough to separate both sides at full-time. The victory leaves Clermont Foot at the top of the table in 2nd place with 6 points after 2W, 0D & 0L, having defeated Bordeaux by the same score-line on Match Day 1. This upcoming game against Lyon will serve as an opportunity to test their resolve against a technically superior side, - at least on paper. Coach, Pascal Gastien knows a victory over Lyon might be an uphill task for his side, but a point would be a fine result. Gastien is expected to adopt the same 4--2--3--1 formation seen against Troyes with the club's top striker for the season, Mohamed Bayo (3 goals) leading the attack. On availability, Yohann Magnin remains doubtful for Clermont on Match Day 3.
