Preview Troyes Ligue 1, Aug 29, 2021

Preview Ligue 1 newcomers, ES Troyes AC have so far failed to live up to expectations following their return to top-flight football after a three-year absence. Troyes remain at the bottom end of the table, - in 18th place after picking up only one point in two games; 0W 1D & 2L. Last weekend, they picked up a 1-1 draw on the road against Strasbourg. Troyes started the game on the front foot, forcing, not one but two excellent saves from the Strasbourg goalkeeper. Yoann Touzghar (19') eventually broke the deadlock to give Troyes the deserved lead. Late into the second half, Adrien Thomasson (77') found the leveller leaving both sides with a point apiece. The draw leaves Troyes with a form that reads: LLD. Coach Laurent Batlles hopes the draw would signal a turnaround in the club's fortunes on the field come Match Day 4. On Sunday, he will aim for a few more points to distance his side from the bottom three. He is expected to adopt a 3—5—2 formation with the attacking duo of Yoann Touzghar and Dylan Chambost.

Preview Monaco Ligue 1, Aug 29, 2021

Preview Following the aggregate 3-2 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in Wednesday's Champions League qualifying round, Monaco will not take part in the UEFA Champions League. However, Monaco will be in UEFA's Europa League. An own goal by Ruben Aguilar (114' O.G) saw Monaco denied a spot in the Champions League draws. Niko Kovac's side returns to Ligue 1 action behind last Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Lens. The game finished with 10-men apiece after Cheick Doucoure (R. 60') and Aleksandr Golovin (86') saw red minutes after the break. A piece of unconvincing goalkeeping by Monaco's Alexander Nuebel saw Lens take the lead minutes after the interval. - Courtesy of a goal by Ignatius Ganago (51'). Caio Henrique gave the ball away in the closing stages, leaving Lens with the golden opportunity to extend the lead. Simon Banza (90'+4) seized the opportunity, firing into the roof of the net for the second. Monaco's nightmare start to the season leaves them in 19th place with a point after three games: 0W, 1D & 2L. But another window of opportunity will present itself on Sunday when they make their fourth and final appearance before the international break. A 4—4—2 formation could be seen with Ben Yedder, - having bagged a brace against Shakhtar Donetsk, playing alongside Kevin Volland in attack on Sunday.
