Preview Angers SCO Ligue 1, Aug 15, 2021

Preview Angers SCO return on Match Day 2 with a win on the road against RC Strasbourg Alsace. Angelo Fulgini thought he had put Angers in the lead but saw his celebrations cut short after he was caught miles off-side. Six minutes later, it was Strasbourg's Diallo who was denied by the flag. His fine effort coming to nothing after seeing the goal chalked off for offside. But the visitors would eventually break the deadlock after the break. Ivorian centre-back, 34-year-old, Ismaël Traoré (57') got on the end of a fine cross to hand the Black & Whites the lead three minutes short of the hour-mark. Minutes to the end of the game, a team goal, - finished off by second-half substitute, 29-year-old Cameroonian striker, Stéphane Bahoken (81’) saw Angers extend their lead over Strasbourg. The Black and Whites almost conceded in the later stages, but a forest of legs saw Strasbourg's attempt on goal come to nothing. After a winning start, coach Gérald Baticle would be aiming for back-to-back victories on Match Day 2 when his side returns for their second appearance of the season. They currently sit in 2nd place with 3 points and a goal difference of +2 after keeping a clean sheet against the Racers. Angers could line up with three at the back once again in an attacking 3—4—1—2 formation with the duo, Fulgini and teenage forward, 17-year-old Mohamed Cho leading the front line.

French forward, Irvin Cardona (43') handed Brest the lead, two minutes before the stroke of half-time before Toko Ekambi's cushioned header set Islam Slimani (62') up for the volley to bring the scoreline level. Peter Bosz will be expecting a reaction from his side after an unconvincing performance that saw them pick up only a point last weekend. An attacking 4—3—1—2 formation could be seen from Bosz, with the striking partnership of Toko Ekambi and Islam Slimani expected once again. French defender, Damien Da Silva remains suspended while Lenny Pintor will see a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up a cruciate ligament rupture.
