Preview Chelsea defeated Aston Villa on penalties in Wednesday’s EFL Cup fixture at Stamford Bridge. Last weekend, Chelsea took Tottenham to the cleaners, after picking up a 3-0 win over Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A fine header from Thiago Silva (49') separated both sides before a huge deflection helped N'Golo Kante (57') with Chelsea's second. Antonio Rüdiger (90'+2) wrapped up the three points in additional time to leave Chelsea unbeaten in five league games: WWDWW. The Blues and Liverpool are on par on points (13), goal difference (+11) and goals scored (12), but Chelsea is in first position on the table based on alphabetical order, after 4W, 1D, & 0L. On the numbers, Chelsea have an average of 2.4 goals scored per game and an average of 0.2 goals conceded per game. A win for Chelsea on Saturday could see the club become the first in football history to win four consecutive matches against Pep Guardiola teams. Leaving out own goals, Chelsea has seen 10 different goalscorers in their last five Premier League fixtures this season. An unlikely goal scorer could emerge on Saturday. Against Manchester City, Thomas Tuchel could deploy a 3—5—2 formation with Lukaku and Kai Havertz in attack.

Preview Manchester City Premier League, Sep 25, 2021

Preview Manchester City will return to Premier League action after Tuesday's 6-1 thrashing of Wycombe Wanderers F.C. in an EFL Cup fixture. Last weekend, City had their title defense campaign hindered after a barren draw against Southampton on home turf. The Cityzens remain in 5th place, four spots below Chelsea and three points adrift of the Blues, having picked up 10 points from 3W, 1D, & 1L. Having 11 goals after 5 Premier League games, City have recorded only one defeat: LWWWD. A closer look at the numbers reveals the sky-blue-wearing side have an average of 2.2 goals scored per game, a G.D. of +10, and an average of 0.2 goals-per-match conceded per game. Pep Guardiola's probable 4—3—3 formation against Chelsea could see Ferran Torres back in the starting lineup after being left out entirely in the game against the Saints. Jack Grealish and Gabriel Jesus could be playing alongside the Spaniard. Kevin De Bruyne could also return to the starting lineup against Chelsea. The 30-year-old has netted in each of his last three Premier League appearances against the Blues and could get the fourth on Saturday. Only Craig Bellamy, against the Magpies (between 2007 and 2011), has four in a row against his former side. Meanwhile, Oleksandr Zinchenko remains in doubt for this fixture.
