Carrick made four changes to the starting line-up for the game against Villarreal, with Donny van de Beek, Fred, Alex Telles, and Anthony Martial all getting a start. Bruno Fernandes made an off-the-bench appearance along with Marcus Rashford. A 4—2—3—1 formation with Ronaldo at the top is expected on Sunday. Harry Maguire is suspended, while Paul Pogba remains sidelined with a thigh injury. Meanwhile, Édinson Cavani remains doubtful, alongside Mason Greenwood (COVID-19).
