AC Milan keeps finding ways to win and stay ahead of the chasing pack in Serie A. Playing without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ismael Bennacer and Theo Hernandez, the Rossoneri played down a man for nearly an hour but still managed to beat Pippo Inzaghi's Benevento 2-0. Franck Kessie opened the scoring with an early penalty kick, but Milan was soon reduced to 10 men when Sandro Tonali saw a yellow card changed to red after a VAR review. Rafael Leao doubled Milan's advantage shortly after halftime with a great finish from a tight angle. Benevento had a chance to get back in it from the penalty spot, but Gianluca Caprari's effort went wide after he got Gianluigi Donnarumma to dive the wrong way.
