In this transfer window, there will be a number of players looking for a move away in order to resurrect their careers, for a number of different reasons - not least because they’re not getting the playing time they deserve. We start the list with Danny Drinkwater who has had a particularly troubled time of it lately, and has somehow earned a move to Turkish side Kasimpasa for one final chance. He’s joined by fellow Premier League outcasts Jesse Lingard, who has no league minutes at Manchester United, and Gareth Bale, whose move to Spurs has hardly been the breath of fresh air we all expected.
Jack Wilshere also features, after dropping out of England’s top flight for the first time in his career. Then we go around Europe, where in Italy Federico Bernardeschi is still young but getting less and less game time, and Kevin Strootman is hoping his move to Genoa can shake his Marseille demons. Papu Gomez is also out at Atalanta - but where to? It’s a big decision to make considering his age.
Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz is a bit part player in his late 20s, whilst in Germany, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Delaney are in an unlikely position to earn a place in the squad for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund respectively - but will they do enough?
