See all the highlights from our 16th October London Senior Cup second round tie at Balham FC. The lineup was much changed from our last league game, giving starts to some of our U18 players alongside a few more experienced heads. We started the game on the front foot, imposing ourselves in the midfield, but Balham still created some chances that were well marshalled by our new-look defence. At the other end of the pitch we were knocking on the door before Mekhi Savage took aim from range and beat the keeper for pace just before halftime. Savage had a glorious chance to double his tally shortly after the break but his attempt at a lob was clawed away by the keeper. We kept trying to kill off the tie but could not find a second goal and, as the half went on, Balham started to test Marshall in goal. We were made to pay for not consolidating the lead when Balham's Keene went clean through on goal, rounded the keeper, and slotted into an empty net to equalise in the 92nd minute! The tie went straight to penalties where we were perfect from the spot whilst Balham missed a crucial spot kick, blazing over the bar to put us through to the next round of the London Senior Cup!
Next up for The Rams we were back to the league with Littlehampton Town visiting the Mayfield Stadium on October 19th! Highlights for that game are out soon! 💪
