Just because the window has now shut doesn’t mean that this week’s Euro Transfer Talk is short on stories - far from it. We’re already looking ahead to the summer window, where it’s emerged that complications in the deal that took Achraf Hakimi to Inter Milan from Real Madrid have arisen, meaning the San Siro club may have to sell up if they can’t find the funds to pay Real Madrid.
Sticking with Madrid, defender and club legend Sergio Ramos still doesn’t know where he’s playing football next season. PSG? Manchester United? Manchester City? No one knows, and Florentino Perez is trying to call his bluff by telling him to go with the highest offer. This isn’t the only mention for Perez either, as he has been accused by La Liga of being in cahoots with FIFA ahead of the establishment of a potential European Super League.
We briefly visit France with PSG, where the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino has seemed to appease stars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, with the club hoping they sign new deals shortly. Big clubs are on alert as Erling Haaland might be sold by a financially struggling Borussia Dortmund this summer and then it’s the big one.
Lionel Messi’s half a billion euro contract has been published by a Spanish newspaper - we take a look at just how much he is getting paid, the club’s response to it, and how despite Barcelona’s finances, it might not actually be that bad of a deal.
