Beesotted were invited to the Premier League, along with representatives from all the Premier League clubs, to discuss refereeing and in particular VAR. The aim of the meeting was to have an open forum where fans were able to discuss their views on refereeing and VAR and what changes they felt would make the game better for both players on the field and for fans off it
Clarifying the four situations in which VAR is currently used - Goals, Penalties, Direct Red Cards and Mistaken identity- the meeting asked fans if they preferred more VAR interference and higher thresholds or less - the feedback they got from that being fairly unanimous
And only a few days after the meeting, with Kai Havertz alleged penalty dive against Brentford at the Emirates in which he wasn't sent off for a second yellow card because VAR was not authorised to judge on that offence, and with him ending up scoring a few minutes later, is there a case for tweaking the VAR rules to punish such shenanigans?
Billy The Bee Grant (@BillyTheBee99), Dave Laney Lane (@Beesotted100) and Ali Mullalley (@alimullaley) linked up to discuss referees and VAR
