BLACKPOOL 0-2 CARDIFF CITY | MATCH DAY VLOG
After making 7 changes on Wednesday to put together a team that played the best football I have seen since Ian Holloway's time as Blackpool manager Neil Critchley reverted to more or less the same team that struggled at Bristol City for 75 minutes until the substitutions of Bowler and Lavery changed the game.
Everyone around us were scratching their heads as to why Lavery and Bowler didn't start and the scratching of heads continued after half time as no substitutions were made to a team that everyone we spoke to said "was crying out for changes to be made..."
This time changes were made a little earlier than at Bristol but sadly the damage had already been done as Blackpool were a goal down, The Blackpool manager making 2 substitutions with 20 minutes to go (Bowler) and with about 15 minutes to go (Lavery) It seemed cruel that Blackpool were caught on the break to a sucker punch when the 2 additions were creating more in a 10 minute spell than the previous 70 minutes.
Having said that Cardiff were admittedly the better side for most of the match goalkeeper Chris Maxwell on top form to save a number of glorious chances to keep Blackpool level at half time.
Hopefully Critch has taken notes and learned a few lessons from this defeat? A big crowd which could have been even bigger if the tickets had have been a reasonable price (another mystery as to why the powers that be seem to want to charge a couple of quid extra and sell less tickets?) surely a cheaper price that helps bring in as large a crowd as we can get in is what we need in this division?
Let me know your thoughts on the game, the team selection and the pricing structure in the comments below
