BLACKPOOL 2-4 PETERBOROUGH - THE 'LUCKY HAT' RUN ENDS
I have to give credit where it is due and first half Peterborough looked the best team to visit Bloomfield Road by far this season, outplayed us, out fought us and were deservedly 1-0 up even though we saw encouraging signs towards to the end of the half that gave us hope that we could fight back.
Within a minute of the restart Blackpool were down to 10 men! after failing to head a simple ball back to the keeper Oliver Casey let the Peterborough forward get past him and even though it looked like a genuine attempt to clear the ball and there was another defender nearer the goal the ref sent him off! Peterborough score from the free kick and GAME OVER!
But it wasn't to be that simple after awarding Peterborough a bit of a soft penalty in the 1st half which was saved he waived on an absolute 'stone-waller' at the same end...to light the fuse of ANGER in the crowd in the team and Bloomfield Road becomes a ferocious cauldron of hate!
From what looked like a free kick to Blackpool ref dishes out a yellow awards the free kick to Peterborough and within moments Peterborough break away and it's 3-0
Game over right? wrong
10 men Blackpool buoyed by the hostile crowd, the atmosphere , the sense of injustice stage a fightback 2 goals in 4 minutes and Peterborough are on the ropes...
Then the most horrendous play acting starts...
to his credit and maybe to save himself having a police escort from the ground the ref starts to ignore the mortally wounded Peterborough players and actually seems to be giving anything and everything Blackpool's way
9 MINUTES OF EXTRA TIME!!!
The roof lifts off...can we do it
Peterborough catch us on the break as 10 men Pool push fir the equaliser
2-4 GAME OVER
With 5 minutes left Blackpool loop a header over the keeper it is going in...
It hits the crossbar and bounces over
AND THAT WAS THAT!
