West Ham United have formally announced the signing of Julen Lopetegui as their new head coach. This appointment marks the beginning of a new system for the club, featuring a director of football and head coach axis for the first time in the club's history.
Lopetegui, who has signed a two-year contract with an option for a third, aims to secure European football for the Hammers. The former Spain and Real Madrid boss brings with him a detailed vision for the club's future and an extensive knowledge of the current squad.
Director of football Tim Steidten could not have been happier following the appointment.
Fully involved in the club's pre-season tour decisions, Lopetegui is eager to start working with the players when they return to training in July. Speaking to West Ham TV, he shared his excitement about building on the strong foundations at the club and bringing his own style to London Stadium.
Joining Lopetegui at West Ham are:
Pablo Sanz (Assistant Head Coach)
Oscar Caro (Head of Performance & Assistant Coach)
Juan Vicente Peinado (Head of Analysis & Assistant Coach)
Borja De Alba (Fitness Coach)
Edu Rubio (Technical Coach)
Xavi Valero (Goalkeeper Coach)
Lopetegui will meet his squad for the first time at Rush Green in early July before heading to the United States for The Sunshine State Tour of Florida, where they will face Wolves and Crystal Palace.
