See all the best bits from our 17th November cup tie away at Camden Town U23s. We started sharp right out the blocks with Fergus grabbing an early opening goal - a lovely finish powered in high at the near post. It didn't take long to double our lead when Glaze did well to bundle a corner in through a sea of bodies. The home side got one back in style with a delightful curling strike from distance to stay in the game but this did not deter us as we kept producing chances for the rest of the first half which their keeper did well to stop. Camden Town had a great chance to pull level as their striker was played clean through but some brave goalkeeping was on show as O'Neill raced out of her box to make the challenge. The second half began in a similar vein to the first and Lawrence pounced on some uncertain defending to deftly slip in our third of the game. This was followed by a spell of Camden Town pressure but they failed to make any clear-cut chances as our defence held out well. Before long, however, we found space in behind again and won a corner, from which Fergus rose highest to nod in a delightful ball. Fergus got her hattrick soon after, racing onto a ball into the box before taking it round the keeper and coolly slotting into an open net. Our 6th of the afternoon was yet another for Fergus, who controlled a throw-in on the edge of the box and crashed a volley past the keeper. Lawrence then got her second of the match, following up on her own saved shot to bury the rebound and make it 7 (SEVEN) in total. That capped a resounding cup performance for Croydon Athletic who progress into the next round and continue their unbeaten run!
Next up is a league tie at home to Clapham United on the 24th November!
