Mark Robins was made to wait for his first victory as Stoke City manager, as the dominant Potters were held to a goalless draw by a defensive rearguard from Plymouth Argyle.
Junior Tchamadeu, Tom Cannon and Wouter Burger all went close for the red and whites in a game they dominated from gun to tape without reward.
Robins made one change to Ryan Shawcross' line-up that beat Sunderland and drew at Burnley, as Sam Gallagher replaced Burger. City's number six commenced the contest on the bench after picking up a knock at Turf Moor.
