Wigan Athletic Community Trust's Post-16 Football and Education programme has been helping students to improve their confidence, raise their aspirations and take the first steps towards a career in sports.
The two-year programme combines studying a Level 2 & Level 3 BTEC with work experience, learning about the sports industry and representing Wigan Athletic Community Trust in the Community Education Football Alliance League (CEFA) against other football clubs.
Students' work experience placements see them join Wigan Athletic Community Trust staff across the local community, supporting children's education in primary schools and also assisting with the refereeing and the organising of football tournaments.
