Delivered by Wigan Athletic Community Trust as part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, Protect the Plant sessions have helped raise awareness of environmental sustainability in Primary Schools.
The Community Trust has been delivering the student-led programme at partner Primary Schools across Wigan and Leigh. Through the Protect the Planet programme, students are encouraged to create their own plans and ideas to improve their school's sustainability.
At Newton West Park, the programme has been delivered by School Sports Coordinator Aaron Beesley, who has seen students come up with ideas, including encouraging students to walk to School, increasing opportunities to recycle and has led to students creating a competition to see which class can be the most eco friendly.
