See all the best bits from our 24th November league tie at home to Clapham United. The visitors started brightly forcing our defence into some early work. We could have taken the lead when Ashaye raced through but the goalkeeper stood her ground well to deny us. The visitors opened the scoring with a scorching first-time effort from the edge of the D that flew into the bottom corner. It quickly became two when Clapham found space in behind and calmly slipped a shot under the advancing keeper. We were inches away from an immediate response as a strike rolled inches past the outside of the post and a shot from a tight angle looked to have gone over the line but miraculously was kept out by a combination of the Clapham defenders and the post. We kept pressing and their keeper pulled off a number of goal-saving stops before Gayle capitalised on a poor parry from a corner to reduce the deficit to one. The second half saw us miss a glorious chance from 6 yards out with the goal gaping and another series of really smart saves from the Clapham keeper to hold onto their lead. But that did not deter us and we maintained the pressure until substitute McLeod-Graham found space on the edge of the box and slipped a finish low into the near post to draw us level. We spurned an opportunity to win it as their keeper again did excellently to halt a 3 on 1 counter and right at the death we could not quite apply the finishing touch on a lovely ball across the 6 yard box. The game ended there and, although the team will have felt it was two points dropped, it was an excellent performance to come-back from two goals down to maintain our unbeaten streak and our place at the top of the table!
Next up is a league tie away to South London Laces on the 1st December!
