Croydon Athletic suffered a frustrating 2-1 defeat at home to Deal Town, despite taking the lead through a well-taken goal by David Omilabu. The Rams started brightly, controlling possession and creating early opportunities. Omilabu opened the scoring midway through the second half with a composed finish, taking advantage of a defensive lapse by the visitors. We looked set to build on this lead, with Pierrick coming close to doubling the lead shortly after. However, Deal Town struck back late in the game. Jack Chapman equalised with a stunning finish from the edge of the box, leaving goalkeeper Tangara with no chance. Moments later, Chapman capitalised on another opportunity, slotting home to complete the turnaround. Croydon pushed for an equaliser in the dying moments but were unable to convert their chances. The result leaves the Rams reflecting on missed opportunities and defensive lapses that cost them valuable points in the promotion race.
