See all the best bits from our 19th October home fixture against Littlehampton Town. The squad took on a more familiar shape after a bit of rotation last time out at Balham in the League Cup. It was a somewhat cagey first half with Croydon looking very solid on the ball but clear chances were at a premium. We maintained the intensity throughout the half and were somewhat unlucky in front of goal as we failed to make our pressure count, going into the break at 0-0. Littlehampton Town soon made us pay for our missed chances, a mix-up at the back allowed Jarvis to snatch the ball and curl in a fine finish from the edge of the area. The goal gave the visitors confidence and they pressed our back line high, ultimately forcing another mistake in defence as they aggressively bullied us off the ball in our own box, which the referee saw as a clean tackle. Tangara brilliantly saved the first effort but the rebound fell kindly to Pamment who made no mistake on the second time of asking to put the visitors 2 up. We responded brightly with who else but Pierrick popping up with a gorgeous strike from distance to halve the deficit. With our tails up we kept pressing for an equaliser but could not find it until the last minute of normal time when McCarthy leapt highest from a corner to nod in at the back post. There was time for a little bit of handbags at the end as tempers flared but no more chances as the ref shortly blew for full-time. The boys showed great grit in a fantastic comeback to earn another point but may feel slightly aggrieved that we couldn't take all 3 this week!
Next up for The Rams was another league fixture, with Steyning Town Community visiting the Mayfield Stadium on 22nd October! Highlights for that game will be out soon! 💪
