See all the best bits from our 22nd October home tie against Steyning Town Community. Croydon Athletic started strong with Pierrick winning a penalty early on in the match after getting tripped in the box, however Sow's penalty was saved by the keeper diving low to his right. There were plenty of chances in the first half and we did take the lead with 16 minutes on the clock as Pierrick drove to the byline and cut across for Malachi Dotse to slot in unmarked from a couple of yards out. Steyning Town responded brightly and were awarded a penalty when Tangara took out their striker as he charged down a shot. The visitors made no mistake from the spot with Barnes coolly finding the bottom corner to tie up the game. We maintained our high press but Steyning Town came closest with a cheeky backheel kept out at the near post. Moments before the half time whistle Sow brought down a long ball and laid off Pierrick who rifled an unstoppable strike into the near post to take his personal tally to 12 goals in 12 games this season! The second half saw another bright start from us as Omilabu pounced on a poor defensive header to drive into the box and curl a fine finish into the far corner. The visitors tried hard to get themselves back into the game but some fantastic defending and solid goalkeeping kept them frustrated. At the other end we had two headers from set pieces that should have found the back of the net but were kept out by some fine saves. The game ended 3-1, another fantastic result for the boys who are starting to pick up form in the league!
