In response to USWNT star Megan Rapinoe's criticism of his recent comments about the growth of women's sports, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green says he and the two-time World Cup winner want "the same thing." On Friday's edition of First Take on ESPN, Chiney Ogwumike, Freddie Coleman and Kimberley Martin discuss the latest in the back and forth between the NBA and NWSL stars.
0:53 Ogwumike, who plays for the LA Sparks in the WNBA, thanks Green for his clarification, saying the initial delivery of his message didn't match his intent. She also discusses the importance of male athletes like Green being better allies to female athletes, using Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant as an example of a strong ally.
3:13 Martin highlights the "danger of the wrong delivery" when players like Green try to use their platform to elevate the people they are trying to help.
5:12 Coleman says Green should have known better than to suggest female athletes are complaining about their status, given his upbringing.
