Burnley Football Club are pleased to confirm the signing of defender Hannes Delcroix from RSC Anderlecht for an undisclosed fee.
The centre-back has signed a three-year deal at Turf Moor and reunites with his former boss Vincent Kompany.
After joining the Clarets, the 24-year-old said: “I heard I think on Monday or Tuesday last week that Burnley was interested in me. It went really quick. I had a phone call with Vinny and Saturday I was already on the plane. So, it went very quick. It was a very busy few days, but I am happy to be here now.
“It's a different competition, the Premier League. Everybody knows it. It's the best competition in the world at the moment. For me, it's a big opportunity to come here and it's a great team. It was not difficult to come here when I got the option.”
Delcroix was born in Haiti but moved to Belgium aged two, spending time as a youngster with both Antwerp and RBC Roosendaal before joining Anderlecht's academy system in 2013.
After progressing through the academy ranks with the Purple & Whites, the defender signed his first professional contract in January 2017 followed by his senior debut in 2018.
Delcroix then spent the 2019/20 season on loan in the Eredivisie with RKC Waalwijk before returning to Belgium, where the 6ft 2in centre-back spent the last three seasons with Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League.
After being raised in Belgium, Delcroix played for Belgium from U15-U21 level and made his senior debut in November 2020 against Switzerland.
