We maintained our perfect start to the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday as we defeated Leicester City 4-0 at the King Power Stadium.

We’ve now won each of our last six league fixtures, scoring 18 goals and keeping an impressive five clean sheets.

Despite starting the game without the usual spine of our team in defence and midfield, we started the game with confidence as Stina Blackstenius rattled the woodwork inside the opening two minutes.

Frida Maanum has been in outstanding form since her masterclass away at Lyon in the Champions League, and she went on to open the scoring, firing home after Stina Blackstenius’ cross was spilt by Kirstie Levell.

Maanum was at the heart of our second goal too, driving through the midfield and showing patience to play the perfect pass to Beth Mead, who fizzed a delivery to the far post where Caitlin Foord was waiting to apply the finishing touch.

We weren’t done there, though, as Steph Catley made it three before the break direct from a corner, whipping the ball across the face of goal and into the far corner in similar style to Bukayo Saka’s earlier in the day against Chelsea.

It was a dominant first-half performance and we started the second half with equal intensity to extend our lead. Lotte Wubben-Moy played an inch-perfect pass over the Leicester defence to pick out Stina Blackstenius and the Sweden international rounded the keeper before finishing into an empty goal.

We closed out the game with maturity and professionalism, but there was one last moment to celebrate late on as Michelle Agyemang was introduced off the bench to make her debut for the club.
