When Roma won the inaugural Europa Conference League in May 2022, not only did it mark the club's first major silverware since 2008, but also Mourinho's first trophy in five years. The longest trophy drought in the managers highly decorated career was over.
Before the showpiece against Feyenoord, he laid to rest his famous ‘special one' nickname, labelling it “ancient history,” then signalled a new chapter in his football life following difficult spells at Man United and Tottenham in which his status as an elite coach was called into question for the first time. And now, he has his sights set on something bigger – Champions League qualification and, next season, a genuine push for the Serie A title, something only three managers have achieved in Roma's history.
