York City Football Club Foundation have been busy organising stadium tours to local schools in York, with over 1,000 children attending over the past few months.

The schools’ visits have been a part of the Foundation’s sporting heritage project which started in 2018 – aiming to commemorate Bootham Crescent and look ahead to the new stadium.

650 children attended the club’s old ground Bootham Crescent before the pandemic hit and in the past two months the LNER Community Stadium has welcomed 18 schools and 1,000+ young people to the new home of York City Football Club.

All children were given a free ticket to this Saturday’s game against top of the table Gateshead in an effort to inspire a new generation of supporters in the city.
