Manchester City matches Liverpool's record of four consecutive league cup titles with a 1-0 win vs. Tottenham, which was being managed by Ryan Mason after the sacking of Jose Mourinho. Aymeric Laporte scores late in the second half on a free-kick delivery from Kevin De Bruyne to seal the victory for Pep Guardiola's side. Man City could have scored even more, but great efforts from Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Joao Cancelo either went narrowly wide, were deflected by a defender or were stopped heroically by Hugo Lloris. Zack Steffen was not busy in the Manchester City goal, but the USMNT goalkeeper did make a fingertip save on an effort from Giovani Lo Celso.
