The Minstermen were defeated 2-0 at home to Southend United at the LNER Community Stadium.
After coming from behind on Tuesday evening to secure a point against Chesterfield, John Askey named an unchanged side as the Minstermen looked to return to winning ways against Southend.
The visitors went ahead after only six minutes through Gus Scott-Morriss’ header, which beat Ethan Ross at his right-hand post after connecting well with a corner into the area from the right-hand side.
The visitors doubled their lead in the 61st minute through defender Shaun Hobson, who headed home from a corner after another delivery in from the right-hand side.
