Max Kruse's did not convert a penalty for the first time in his Bundesliga career, but still managed to tuck in the rebound for Union Berlin’s 2-1 win vs. FC Cologne. Union Berlin opened the scoring through Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi, before Ellyes Skhiri levelled the score for Cologne before half time. In the second half, Salih Özcan fouled Marcus Ingvartsen in the box, giving Kruse the chance to score his 17th-straight penalty, passing Ludwig Nolden as the league’s outright recordholder. Billy Goats goalkeeper Timo Horn was able to stop Kruse’s effort, but couldn’t prevent Kruse from slotting in the rebound for Union Berlin’s winner.
