🎥⚽ Match Highlights: Catch all the action from a thrilling league draw at Merstham!! 🌟🥅
See all the highlights from our exciting, high-scoring draw at Merstham on 5th November. It was a lively start as Merstham forged a few half-chances early on but couldn't test Tangara in goal due to some excellent defending. We looked a real threat on the break, with Serbonij firing narrowly over the bar after a blistering counter-attack. More chances fell our way as we grew into the game, we should have taken the lead from Daniel's freekick but a headed finish could not be applied in the box. However, Merstham took the lead when Lewis controlled the ball a good 30 yards out and volleyed an outstanding strike into the top corner. Our heads did not dip as we kept pushing forward, both Pierrick and Dotse had shots pushed away by the keeper but we could not make anything from the resulting corners. We eventually got a deserved equaliser just before the half time whistle when Kirby pinged an unsaveable strike from distance over the keeper and in off the far post. Kirby had a freekick early in the second half that went narrowly wide before he doubled his tally - Pierrick had a shot palmed away to the edge of the box where Kirby met it first time to lash it past the players on the line. Merstham were not behind for long and levelled up the score with a back post header after a flick on from a corner. Merstham got their noses back in front after a short period of dominance when a mistake from Tangara allowed a speculative effort to slip into the back of the net in the 77th minute. The last 10 minutes consisted of consistent Croydon pressure to look for another equaliser that seemed increasingly unlikely to appear - until skipper Pierrick latched onto a rebound from Daniel to ensure the points were shared. Arguably a fair result in the end after a thrilling, feisty 90 minutes between two evenly matched teams but the boys will be upset to drop points after the chances we had to take the win in such an end-to-end game today.
