Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd was one of the most exciting signings for the club during the summer of 2022, but almost instantly his season was brought to a sudden halt.

Suffering an ankle ligament injury in his first pre-season friendly away to Rangers, the defender was ruled out of action for the next three months.

In a race to be fit again for the 2022 World Cup in November, as well as trying to settle in a new city, Aguerd proved his mental and physical strength during a gruelling rehab schedule.

He now heads to Qatar to represent Morocco at the World Cup, after coming back ahead of schedule and making four appearances for West Ham.

This is the story of Aguerd's road to recovery.
