Work has commenced on the East Stand at Everton Stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock.

The first concrete foundation slab has been poured in the north eastern corner, marking the milestone that all four sides of the 52,888-seater stadium are now under construction.

And with the first anniversary of work first commencing last August drawing ever closer, other significant developments are visible across the site.

In the north west corner, the steel frame has now risen to the point where the apex marks what will become the highest seat in the stadium.

And at the opposite end of the build, the upper level of steelwork is emerging in the south west corner, with raker beams that will support the upper terracing beginning to be bolted in place in a one-tier stand that will eventually house approximately 13,000 Everton fans.

A total of 3,400 concrete terracing units, which will eventually form the entire internal bowl, are being manufactured in Ireland by Laing O’Rourke’s supply chain partner, Banagher Precast, and will be delivered by ship to Liverpool docks, a short distance from the project site. The first of these is due to be installed in the coming weeks.

However, perhaps the most eye-catching progress on site has been made in the west stand, where lattice planks have already been laid atop the first floor, just one month on from work commencing on pouring the concrete foundations.

The speed of the installation of the precast concrete components, which are manufactured off site, transported to Bramley-Moore Dock and then assembled by Laing O’Rourke’s specialist team, bears testament to the system of manufacturing the building blocks off-site using pioneering techniques.
