In the last 5 years, UK Schools have recorded over 60,000 racist incidents. Anti-racism education charity, Show Racism the Red Card have now teamed up with children’s publisher Usborne to launch ‘What is Racism’ a new book aimed at young children, explaining a very difficult and complex subject in an easy to understand way.
Burnley Football Club supported the launch on Thursday 30th September, with Club Captain Ben Mee and Burnley Women’s player Cara Bickett reading the book to children at Reedley Primary School in Brierfield, who are part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme with Burnley FC in the Community.
The book addresses racism and its impact on people, it explains what racism is, how it happens, why it is never acceptable, and what each and every one of us can do to eradicate it.
