See all the highlights from our 20th October 2024 league match at South West Saints. We were lucky to not concede from the off when the home side failed to find the net after a tricky deflection left our keeper stranded. South West Saints followed this chance up with two quick corners that we managed to defend well. These chances seemed to wake us up a bit and we almost took the lead, once when an audacious lob attempt went narrowly wide and again when the keeper just managed to smother a dangerous cross headed towards a Croydon Athletic shirt. Finally Kizzana Fergus did break the deadlock with a fantastic goal starting from a great run down the left wing before cutting inside and letting fly into the far corner from outside the box. Fergus got her second near the end of the half, evading her markers to smartly nod in a corner at the near post. Following our half time team talk, the girls came out strong in the second half with Sarah Nicholson making it 3-0 shortly after kick off by delicately volleying into the side netting from another corner. The home side kept pressing for a way back into the fixture but our defence held firm to maintain the clean sheet. There were chances to extend the lead but we failed to find the back of the net and the match finished 3-0. A fantastic away result and now we look onwards to the next round in the cup!
Next up we are back in the league, at home to Regents Park Rangers on the 27th October!
