🎥⚽ Match Highlights: Catch all the action from our third consecutive league draw, this time away at Steyning Town! 🌟🥅
See all the highlights from our recent league away tie versus Steyning Town Community on the 16th November. It was another away day for the boys after our gutting defeat in the Velocity Cup, but on a positive note the debutants from midweek maintained their places in the starting XI after a pair of solid performances. Steyning Town almost got their noses in front early, as a weak headed backpass was intercepted but the home striker lifted his lob over the bar. Moments later, however, we took the lead as our two league debutants combined. Figueira danced down the right flank and delivered a pinpoint cross that Dreher ghosted onto and dispatched confidently. Tangara had to be alert to prevent an equaliser but he got down well to block a Steyning Town attempt from the edge of the box, and followed this save up with some alert goalkeeping to snatch the ball away from the Steyning striker as it bounced dangerously from a cross. The second half saw Pierrick burst through the Steyning half but he was brilliantly stopped on the edge of the six yard box. Steyning Town then scored a remarkable equaliser when Howick picked the ball up on the halfway line and roamed forward before unleashing a rocket of a strike from 40 yards out that powered into the top corner - there was nothing that Tangara could have done about that strike, you would have needed 5 goalkeepers to even get near it. The equaliser gave our front line a bit more urgency as Diallo's cross was headed off the line and Dotse's near post strike was tipped over. Tangara had to remain alert and produced a stunning full-stretch save to keep the score at 1-1 when Barnes found himself in space and smacked a volley from the edge of the box. Serbonij had a late penalty shout turned down and a few more chances came and went but the full-whistle followed shortly after and it will feel like yet another 2 points dropped for the team who played fantastically but were missing that final touch. This draw leaves us 10th in the league table, and with some work to do to climb up into those playoff places.
