In April 2022, Crawley Town was acquired by a group of 28 cryptocurrency investors through the prism of WAGMI United, who promised to take the team from League Two to the Premier League.
Within two weeks, Crawley's manager became embroiled in an enormous scandal which saw him banned for four years, the crypto and NFT markets crashed, and Crawley were almost relegated from the EFL.
