In November 2018, Hakeem al-Araibi was arrested after his flight from Australia landed in Bangkok, after the government of Bahrain requested that Interpol put out a 'red notice' for his arrest.

Al-Araibi previously played international football for Bahrain, before fleeing persecution to become a refugee in Australia, where he now plays semi-professional soccer in Melbourne.

In this documentary, HITC Sevens examines Bahrain's political unrest and the wider Arab Spring of 2011 through the lens of football and Hakeem al-Araibi's struggles.
