The dominant force in French football during the 2000s, Lyon won seven straight Ligue 1 titles between 2002 and 2008, as well as enjoying famous UEFA Champions League victories against the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Liverpool.
Yet this month, despite having a huge fanbase, a state of the art stadium, and a world class academy, Lyon have been handed a transfer ban and a provisional relegation to Ligue 2 by the DNCG.
