Following the Fall of Kabul on August 15, 2021, the Taliban have regained control of almost all of Afghanistan, now able to install their own government for the first time since the US and allied invasion in 2001.
When the Taliban previously ruled Afghanistan, they outlawed all women's sport and female athletes with strict punishments for anyone who broke those laws, banned boxing, and put tight restrictions on other sports.
Since then, football and cricket have gained huge popularity in Afghanistan, so in this short documentary, HITC Sevens takes a look at what the takeover by the Taliban in Afghanistan could mean for the nation's sport, and particularly the nation's football.
