Whether it's a discussion about who is England's best right-back or a debate around the greatest central midfielders in the history of the Premier League, we have become very used to comparing footballers based upon their positions on a football pitch.

But when English right-backs can perform roles as varied as that of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at Manchester United, does that really make any sense?
