With the transfer window closing imminently, we bring you ten managers that have been let down by their club over the summer. Villarreal’s Unai Emery and Bilbao’s Ernesto Valverde have been hamstrung by La Liga’s financial situation, whilst Ruben Amorim with Sporting in neighbouring Portugal has seen a number of top players leave. Antoine Kombouare has been unable to build on Nantes’ Coupe de France win last season, whilst in Germany, Thomas Reis has seen his Bochum side decimated after they defied expectations to remain in the Bundesliga. Alessio Dionisi of Sassuolo has seen two of his three top scorers leave, whilst fellow Serie A boss, Marco Giampaolo of Sampdoria, is still having to rely on an ancient Fabio Quagliarella. Then there’s the Premier League, where Everton’s Frank Lampard, Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers and Manchester United’s Erik Ten Hag are struggling to get their board on side after each side underwhelmed last campaign. It could be a long season for these men.
