Earlier this week, Wigan Athletic Community Trust welcomed over 120 young Latics fans to experience playing on the hallowed DW Stadium turf.
The players took part in small sided coaching sessions, teaching them key skills including shooting, passing and dribbling, before taking part in some small sided matches.
It was a brilliant evening which gave the young fans a once in a lifetime experience, playing on the same pitch as their Latics heroes.
At the event was Wigan Athletic Community Trust's Assistant Head of Community Steven Eastwood, who said:
“We've got 126 young people from across the Borough aged 8 – 14, all here to play on the football pitch where their heroes play.
“Our Wigan Athletic coaches are delivering eight different sessions, all from basic ball skills to passing, shooting and dribbling, and they're going to be able to put that into practice in little games.
“The impact that this has on young people is massive. They get a chance to improve their confidence, play on the pitch that their local heroes play.
“Gives them a once in a lifetime experience that they'll be able to remember forever.
“It's really important for us as a Community Trust to be able to give them this experience.”
