Leeds United climbed to the Championship's summit as goals from Joel Piroe either side of half time proved decisive at the bet365 Stadium.
After Lewis Koumas' early chance to give the Potters the advantage, United's top goal scorer fired the visitors in front on the stroke of half time with an emphatic finish off the underside of Viktor Johansson's crossbar.
Early in the second half, Piroe's second from a Dan James cross took the game away from the Potters after Ashley Phillips had glanced inches wide from an Eric Bocat cross moments earlier.
