Everton were left frustrated as they could not find a way to break through stubborn 10-man Brentford in a goalless draw at Goodison Park.
After an excellent, fast-flowing start from Sean Dyche's side that saw chances for Idrissa Gana Gueye, Dwight McNeil and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Blues were given a boost five minutes before half-time when defender Christian Norgaard was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on Jordan Pickford.
But the hosts could not make the most of that advantage after the break as their resilient opponents held firm to leave Merseyside with a point.
