The United States and Mexico men's under-23 sides will meet next week in Guadalajara as part of CONCACAF's Olympic Qualifying tournament, with the two programs in very different places. The USMNT has not qualified for the Summer Games since 2008, while Mexico has a gold medal as recently as 2012, and ESPN FC's Herculez Gomez thinks this year's squad might be even better. But is the USMNT program, which also failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in 2018, set to overtake El Tri in the coming years?. Gomez and Sebastian Salazar discuss this on their new ESPN+ show, Futbol Americas, examining comments from Mexico U-23 and Chivas Guadalajara star JJ Macias, who backs El Tri's talent over the U.S., but raises concerns about the amount of American players now playing regularly for big foreign clubs like Barcelona and Juventus.
