West Ham's Academy got a massive boost in last night's Premier League draw against Bournemouth as Julen Lopetegui finally gave the youngsters a chance! After weeks of criticism surrounding his reluctance to use youth players, the Hammers' boss introduced Ollie Scarles (73rd minute) and Kaelan Casey (injury time) while the game was still hanging in the balance.
Although Lewis Orford remained on the bench, this marks a positive step for the Youth Cup-winning graduates. Will we see more of them in the coming weeks? Credit where it's due – let's hope this becomes a regular sight under Lopetegui.
