Belgium beat Canada in their World Cup opener on Wednesday evening, but the major talking point was a plethora of costly refereeing decisions from Janny Sikazwe ; the same referee that blew for the final whistle at AFCON 2020 in the 89th minute. He failed to award Canada two clear-cut penalties, while his assistant flagged an offside against the underdogs, despite Belgian Eden Hazard making the initial pass.
