On this week’s Scout Report, we’re taking a look at three of the biggest mistakes of the season. With the season now beyond its halfway stage, errors that some of the biggest clubs made in the summer transfer window are now beginning to become even clearer. Let’s take a look at three of the biggest, and assess the impact they’ve had on this campaign.
Luis Suarez was allowed to leave Barcelona for Atletico Madrid, with the Uruguayan now powering Diego Simeone’s side to the La Liga title. Real Madrid’s sale of Achraf Hakimi also looks premature, with the wing-back already essential to Antonio Conte’s Serie A hopes at Inter Milan – had they held onto him or secured a buy-back clause, they could have cashed in even bigger further down the line.
And finally, Man United’s failure to sign Jadon Sancho looks to have impacted their credentials as serious Premier League title challengers. With almost creative outlet on the right, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are still some way off the level of rivals Manchester City.
